Conservation Projects
Our conservation efforts aim to safeguard the Jesuit Church's priceless architectural and artistic heritage. The ongoing restoration of the main church includes the nave, transepts, and side chapels, with investments totalling €1.25 million. Other key projects include:
-
Restoration of the Immacolata and Onorati Oratories, including ceilings, walls, and floors (€895,000).
-
The ERDF and the Archdiocese of Malta co-funded the conservation of 15 paintings in the Oratories (€250,000).
-
Mechanical and electrical upgrades, including lighting (€248,000).
These projects are made possible through significant investments from the State and the Archdiocese of Malta, with generous sponsorship from agencies such as Arts Council Malta and the Social Causes Fund. Private support from companies like APS, HSBC, Bank of Valletta, PWC, Tumas Group, AX Holdings, Atelier del Restauro, and Prevarti Ltd has been crucial in advancing our mission.
Special events like Notte Bianca offer visitors a unique opportunity to witness ongoing conservation work, including open labs and expert-guided scaffolding tours. These initiatives celebrate the craftsmanship and dedication required to preserve the Jesuit Church for future generations.
