About the event
Note: Due to a series of unforeseen circumstances the scheduled performance of Brunetti's 'Stabat Mater' will not take place. Pergolesi's Stabat Mater will be performed instead.'
Pergolesi's 'Stabat Mater' remains one of the most iconic and popular settings of this text in the Baroque canon. This setting of the Stabat Mater, a beautiful poem to the Virgin of Sorrows, was written in 1736 when the composer was nearing the end of his tragically short life.
The performance is being held on the eve of the devotional feast of Our Lady of Sorrows, a national event that opens the Holy Week celebrations.
